Our fifth graders recently celebrated a major milestone—their 1,000th day of school! The day was filled with fun, creative, and meaningful activities designed to help students reflect on just how much they have learned and grown over the past 1,000 days.
Students kicked off the celebration by writing 1,000 words they know, showcasing the incredible growth in their vocabulary and writing skills. Another favorite activity was figuring out how many licks it takes to reach 1,000 licks on a Blow Pop, turning a sweet treat into a fun math challenge.
Fifth graders also put their math and problem-solving skills to work by planning a trip with a $1,000 budget. Students had to carefully think through travel costs, lodging, food, and activities while staying within their budget—just like real-world planners.
To top off the celebration, students earned 1,000 seconds of extra recess and 1,000 seconds of free time, giving them a chance to relax, play, and enjoy the day with friends.
The celebration was a wonderful reminder that our fifth graders are truly 1,000 days smarter. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
