Wax museum

Our fifth graders stepped back in time this week for one of our most anticipated traditions — the 5th Grade Wax Museum! This special event showed off all their hard work as students researched and embodied a famous historical figure.

In preparation, each student selected an influential person from history — such as scientists, authors, leaders, inventors, athletes and activists — and spent several weeks learning about their life, accomplishments, and impact. They read biographies, took detailed notes, and wrote speeches from the first-person point of view, imagining what their chosen figure might say if they could tell their story today.

On the big day, their classrooms were transformed into a living museum. Dressed in creative costumes that reflected their historical character, students stood “frozen” in place until visitors pressed their “activation button.” Then, each wax figure came to life, delivering a short speech full of fascinating facts and inspiring stories.

Parents, teachers, and younger students enjoyed walking through the museum, meeting famous figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Rosa Parks, Albert Einstein, Helen Keller, Amelia Earhart, and many others. The students’ hard work, confidence, and creativity shone through as they brought history to life right before our eyes.

The Wax Museum is always a highlight of fifth grade — a meaningful way for students to blend research, writing, public speaking, and performance. It was an incredible day of learning, inspiration, and fun!5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum5th grade wax museum
