haunted houses

Our third graders tapped into their creativity this week by designing and building their own haunted houses! Using cardstock as the base, they cut, folded, and shaped their structures with imagination and care. Once the houses were built, houses were painted black to give them a spooky Halloween feel.

After the paint dried, the real fun began—decorating! Students added tiny ghosts, bats, pumpkins, spiders, and other Halloween-themed decorations to bring their haunted houses to life. Some created crooked windows and creaky doors, while others added eerie pathways, graveyards, and glowing eyes.

The project was a perfect blend of art, engineering, and seasonal fun. Students practiced fine motor skills while cutting and constructing, used problem-solving to assemble their designs, and let their imaginations run wild with the spooky details.

By the end of the week, the third grade hallways were filled with an entire neighborhood of haunted houses—each one unique, creepy, and wonderfully creative. The third graders were proud to show off their Halloween masterpieces!
